Disk speed on Syncrify Server

Syncrify Server is an I/O intensive process requiring fast access to the disk. This is the reason we discourage remote disks such as an iSCSI device. It is important to have the disk local to the CPU so that read/writes are faster.

Starting from build 828, Syncrify includes a Disk Test utility that simultaneously reads and writes data to the disk simulating real time backup load on the machine running Syncrify server. Seeing errors during this test usually indicates a slower/unreliable disk.

Steps to run the test

  • Login as admin to the web interface
  • Change the URL of the browser to

    http://YourHostName:5800/app?operation=disktest

  • Specify a value for Simultaneous Backup Sessions and Threads per Session
  • Chose the Repository path. This should be the path where you store user repository.
  • Click Proceed
