Customizing Email Subject

It may be desirable and more time effective to add specific information about each client in the subject line of the email report generated on each backup. This is a great solution if you have multiple machines backing up using the same profile name and user credentials.

Steps

  • Start Syncrify Client
  • Click Open Data Folder under the File menu
  • Locate and backup the ClientConfig.xml file
  • Open the ClientConfig.xml in a text editor
  • Edit or add the following tags
<emailSubject4Failure>Backup failed - ##PROFILE_NAME##, ##IP_ADDRESS##</emailSubject4Failure>
<emailSubject4Success>Backup successful - ##PROFILE_NAME##, ##IP_ADDRESS##</emailSubject4Success>
<emailSubject4SuccessWithAtLeastOneError>Ran with errors - ##PROFILE_NAME##</emailSubject4SuccessWithAtLeastOneError>

The three parameter lines shown above contain variables. Actual value for these variables will be replaced by Syncrify when email is created. Possible values for these variables are:

  • ##PROFILE_NAME## - Profile name
  • ##IP_ADDRESS## - Machine's IP address
  • ##ALL_IP_ADDRESS## - Use this if machines has multiple IP addresses
  • ##HOST_NAME## - Host name of the machine
  • ##LOGIN## - Login email used to run backup
