Web Interface

When you install the Syncrify server, it automatically runs an embedded web server. This web server listens on port 5800 for incoming client request by default. However, if no other server is listening on port 80, it is recommended you switch Syncrify's web server from 5800 to 80.

When you use TCP/IP port 80 for Syncrify's web server, clients do not have to specify the port number in the URL. For example:

http://backup.YourCompany.com

Verses

http://backup.YourCompany.com:5800

Often, novice users either forget to specify a port or type the URL incorrectly in their browser. Using port 80 as the default port will eliminate these mistakes.

Connecting to Syncrify

To connect, simply type the URL for Syncrify in your browser. Every URL has three parts:

Protocol - for example http:// or https://
Host name - this is either a name or an IP address
TCP/IP port - this can be omitted if the server is listening on port 80

Here are some example URLs:

http://localhost:5800 - This will connect to a Syncrify server running on the same machine where the browser is running. It will connect on TCP/IP port 5800
http://192.168.1.20:5800 - This will connect to a Syncrify server running on a machine that an IP address 192.168.1.20. It will connect on port 5800
https://backup.YourCompany.com - This will connect to a Syncrify server where the host name is backup.YourCompany.com. It will connect using the HTTPS protocol on port 443

Login ID

Both administrators and users connect to Syncrify server using the same mechanism. The login ID determines the authorization level. For example, when you specify admin as the user ID, you get connected as the Administrator. Using any other value for login connects you as a normal non-admin user.
