Versioning With Cloud Snapshot
Versioning in Syncrify stores deltas between two versions. For example, if you have 5 versions of a file, the most recent version (version 5) will
be stored in its entirety and the rest of the versions (4, 3, 2 and 1) will be stored as deltas. The following image displays this architecture visually.
If a user needs to restore version 2, Syncrify will have to first recreate version 4 by merging the delta for v4 and v5. This will give the entire file for v4.
It will then repeat the process for v3 and finally for v2.
An important point to note here is that you will need deltas for version 3 and 4 in order to get to version 2. Therefore, unless the frequency of your cloud snapshot
is set to 1, backing up versioned files is of no value.
